It has been proved in a previous work that irreducible generating sets for arbitrary‐order tensor‐valued isotropic or anisotropic functions of any finite number of vector and 2nd order tensor variables may be formed by a union of those for seven types of isotropic or anisotropic functions of three variables. Here we show that, for many kinds of material symmetry groups, some and even all of the latter may further be reduced to cases of two variables and even single variables.
