Long and continuous space‐based observations of stellar pulsations will be made available in a few years. We investigate the signature of localized magnetic activity in the spectrum of the global modes of oscillation of a Sun‐like star. Using Monte‐Carlo simulations, we estimate the precision that can be achieved on the measurement of the even splitting coefficient a 2 . It is found that, under certain conditions, some information can be retrieved about the surface distribution of stellar magnetic activity.
