In this paper, I review our present knowledge of the pulsation phenomenon that affects a fraction of the subdwarf B (sdB) stars. The observed properties of this recently discovered class of pulsating stars are summarized and the current status of the theory explaining the driving of the observed pulsations is discussed. Global comparisons between observations and pulsation computations are illustrated, showing an excellent overall agreement. I also review very recent results demonstrating that pulsating sdB stars have a great potential for detailed asteroseismological analysis. Finally, some of the latest developments occurring in this field of research are discussed.
