The paper is devoted to theoretical investigations on the energy loss of charged particles in fully ionized, nonideal plasmas. Especially, the limiting behaviour for very low and high beam particle velocities is investigated. To give a consistent description for both limits, a combined model based on quantum kinetic theory is applied. For low beam velocities, a comparison with simulation data is given. The high beam velocity behaviour of our model is compared with the “standard model” of the stopping power given by the Bethe‐formula and two correction terms, the Bloch term and a Z 3 b ‐correction (Barkas effect).
