We present an analysis of a capillary plasma Z‐pinch, considered as an alternative to pumping for soft X‐ray lasers. The study is based on the so called “snow‐plow” model. The influence of an external circuit on the evolution of pinching capillary plasma is assessed. Calculated and measured results of pinch time for various experimental setups are compared.
