It is shown that in the presence of an oblique magnetic field the effective secondary‐electron emission coefficient ( γ eff ) depends crucially on the initial energy of the emitted electrons. If the initial energy is zero then γ eff = γ 0 , were γ 0 is the secondary‐electron emission coefficient in the absence of the magnetic field. Wit increasing initial energy γ eff decreases.
