Photoluminescence spectra and excitation photoluminescence spectra of BaCd 2 Cl 6 :Pb crystal were studied in the temperature range of 77–300 K. At 77 K the A T and A X photoluminescence bands are located in the regions of 3.64 and 2.51 eV, respectively. In the excitation spectra splittings of the A and B band into two, and of C bands into three components take place. The D excitation band is not split at all. The value of the absolute quantum efficiency of photoluminescence η q and its temperature dependence are determined separately for the A T and A X photoluminescence bands (at 77 K η q T = 0.44, η q X = 0.17, respectively), as well as the activation energy of the non‐radiative transitions and the quenching constants.
