Temporal change of absorption spectra in PbI 2 ultra‐thin microcrystallites (UTMs) have been studied by a pump–probe method with a sub‐picosecond pulse laser. In the differential absorption spectra we have found saturation, blue shift and broadening of exciton absorption bands. The lifetime of the free exciton tends to decrease with decreasing layer thickness. The dynamical process of the electronic states is discussed.
