A new relation for the pressure dependence of the Debye temperature is derived on the basis of the nonlinear expression for the pressure dependence of the Grüneisen parameter. The application of the new relation to the cases of NaCl and CsI are presented and compared with that of the relation derived on the basis of the linear expression presented by Kumari and Dass (phys. stat. sol. (b) 133 , 101 (1986)) for the pressure dependence of the Grüneisen parameter. The comparison shows that the new relation presented in this paper is better.
