Intra‐band current oscillations by femtosecond inter‐band photo‐excitation of a semiconductor in perpendicular electric and magnetic fields are studied. Special attention was paid to the role of the electric field in the excitation, which can be studied by the optical absorption. For LO‐phonon scattering quantum‐number‐dependent transverse relaxation times are introduced. Here the effect of the electric field is to suppress the magneto‐phonon‐resonances. The current evolution is calculated: Above the phonon‐threshold damping takes place on a picosecond timescale.
