Assuming the second Grüneisen parameter $q$ has the form of $q = q_0 \eta ^n$ , we obtain the Grüneisen parameter $\gamma = \gamma _0 \, \exp \, \left [ \displaystyle {q_0 \over n} \, (\eta ^n - 1) \right ]$ . Applying this formula to experimental values of NaCl, we obtain $n = 1$ .
