We theoretically study the effect of THz radiation on the linear optical absorption spectra of semiconductor superlattices. We use methods based on non‐equilibrium Green functions to show analytically that when conditions for dynamical localization are fulfilled, the character of the absorption spectra is dramatically changed. Distinct stable steps appear in the spectra signaling the dimensional change in the degrees of freedom of the system. The steps appear with an interval of a single THz frequency indicating that multi photon processes introduce the steps and that the phenomenon is of dynamical origin, i.e. not due to Wannier‐Stark like localization.
