Four monomers containing azomethine‐type spacers and 1‐naphthyl groups at the extremities were synthesized by a coupling reaction between 1‐naphthaldehyde with four different diamines. Full conjugated polyazomethines were obtained by oxidative polymerization of the monomers using anhydrous FeCl 3 . Both monomers and polymers were investigated by IR, UV‐Vis and 1 H NMR methods.
