A molecularly imprinted polymer with cholesterol esterase activity was prepared. Polymerization of N , N ′‐diethyl(4‐vinylphenyl)amidine in the presence of the phosphate transition state analogue 2 followed by removal of the print molecule generated a catalytically active polymer with K m of 3.7 m M and k cat of 2.2·10 –4 min –1 , respectively. A relative rate enhancement of 27‐fold over the background buffer uncatalyzed reaction and of 2.4‐fold in the presence of the control polymer were observed.
