Chain‐transfer constants (C T ) have been evaluated for dodecanethiol (DDT) in the homopolymerization of butyl acrylate (BA). The polymerizations have been carried out in 3 mol/L benzene solution at a temperature range from 40 to 60°C. The new chain length distribution (CLD) analytical method has been used and is compared to the conventional Mayo procedure. The chain‐transfer constant values are independent of the polymerization temperature and slightly higher when obtained according to the CLD method ( C T = 1.615) in comparison with the Mayo method ( C T = 1.513).
