Abstract MCM‐41 derivatized with the cis ‐[Mo 2 ( μ ‐O 2 CMe) 2 (MeCN) 6 ] 2+ cation has been characterized by means of XAFS spectroscopy and shown to be active as an initiator for the cationic polymerization of methylcyclopentadiene. The Mo‐Mo quadruple bond is not disrupted during the fixation on the surface.
