Iron surface was modified by organic, self assembled nano‐layer of 1,7‐diphosphono heptane. The self‐assembling film formation and the self‐healing process of the injured layers was monitored by electrochemical methods. The morphological changes of paint and lacquer layers which was due to different pre‐treatments were monitored by surface analyzing techniques.
