The kinetics of network polymerization are considered by the method of generating functions. The critical condition at gelation is defined as the conversion when the second moment of the distribution of macromolecules with respect to functionality Φ 22 ( t ) → ∞. Relations for the critical conversions for polymerization with instantaneous and slow initiation, without and with the chain transfer and recombination are obtained.
