Under hydrothermal reaction conditions , two new uranyl tellurites, Tl 2 [UO 2 (TeO 3 ) 2 ] ( 1 ) and Na 8 [(UO 2 ) 6 (TeO 3 ) 10 ] ( 2 ), have been prepared. These compounds display unusual bonding characteristics in that 1 contains [Te 2 O 6 ] 4− ions formed from two TeO 3 2− ions, and 2 (see picture) possesses a chiral three‐dimensional network structure. The bonding and physical properties of these compounds are discussed.
