A simple mixture of thiourea and AgNO 3 in alkaline solution without any template or substrate, allowed to stand at room temperature, forms a unique self‐supported pattern of Ag 2 S nanorods. The picture shows a scanning electron micrograph of a typical product: a flake of polycrystalline Ag 2 S with Ag 2 S nanorods that radiate from a central point.
