A photolytically induced reaction of AlF with O 2 in an argon matrix afforded the first peroxo and bis‐superoxo complexes of aluminum: FAlO 2 and FAl(O 2 ) 2 (see picture). The compounds were identified and characterized by IR spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) as well as ab initio calculations.
