The previously unknown silicate ion [Si 6 O 17 ] 10− (c) and mixed‐valent silicon centers that differ by five oxidation states are present in the tetrelide(−1)–tetrelate(+4) compound Cs 10 [Si 4 ][Si 3 O 9 ] (anions a and b) and Rb 14 [E 4 ][Si 6 O 17 ] (E=Si and Ge; anions a and c). The structures of this new class of compounds can be described by chemical twinning of the silicate and Zintl phases A $\rm{^{I}_{4}}$ [E $\rm{^{IV}_{4}}$ ].
