Metal–metal bonds are not essential for multiply bridging hydride ligands. A tetranuclear μ 4 ‐hydride complex [( μ 4 ‐H)Rh 4 (PNNP) 2 (CO) 4 ] + (PNNP=3,5‐bis(diphenylphosphanylmethyl)pyrazolate), in which the quadruply bridging hydrido ligand holds the four isolated metal centers together to form a tetrahedral metal array, has been prepared and characterized by spectroscopic methods and single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (see picture).
