Sitting in a tin chair : the compound [Nb( η ‐C 6 H 5 Me) 2 ] reacts with the Sn 9 4− ion in ethylenediamine to give the [( η ‐C 6 H 5 Me)NbSn 6 Nb( η ‐C 6 H 5 Me)] 2− ion, 1 . The complex contains a new Zintl ion, Sn 6 12− , with a chair cyclohexane‐like structure and 2c‐2e bonds.
