Two valence electrons more than in square‐antiprismatic 38‐electron clusters such as Bi 8 2+ or Sn 8 6− : This is the reason for the unusual cube‐shaped structure of the cation Bi 4 Te 4 4+ (see picture), which is obtained as the chloroaluminate salt from acidic AlCl 3 /Na[AlCl 4 ] melts.
