No end in sight : the mono‐, bi‐, and triphosphirenes 2, 3 , and 5 , respectively, are prepared by a simple iterative method (see scheme; 1 =[Ph≡CPW(CO) 5 ], 4 =[PhPW(CO) 5 ]); these oligomers offer numerous possibilities in coordination chemistry and catalysis. They can serve to create numerous other classes of polyphosphine chains by ring opening or ring expansion of the phosphirene units.
