Nitride and/or diazenide ions in the octahedral holes of nearly close‐packed arrangements of Sr 2+ ions (see picture) characterize the new compounds described herein. They were obtained as single‐phase products by oxidation of Sr 2 N with molecular nitrogen under high pressure.
