Not Sc 2 @C 86 but Sc 2 C 2 @C 84 : that is the conclusion of 13 C NMR spectroscopic and synchrotron X‐ray powder diffraction studies on a new metallofullerene obtained by arc discharge of Sc 2 O 3 /graphite rods. The picture shows a schematic representation of the deduced structure, in which the novel scandium carbide cluster Sc 2 C 2 is encaged in D 2d ‐C 84 .
