Irrespective of the amount used , Me 3 SiN 3 reacts with the monomeric Al I compound [HC{(CMe)(NAr)} 2 ]Al at low temperature to afford a member of a new class of binary Al–N ring systems [HC{(CMe)(NAr)} 2 ]Al[(NSiMe 3 ) 2 N 2 ] (see picture; Ar=2,6‐ i Pr 2 C 6 H 3 ), the first structurally characterized MN 4 cyclic compound containing a Group 13 element.
