High‐pressure techniques were applied to obtain the new oxoselenate Na 4 SeO 5 , whereas a further oxoselenate, Na 6 Se 2 O 9 , is also accessible under standard pressure. Both enrich the known oxoselenate( VI ) ions SeO 4 2− (tetrahedron) and SeO 5 4− (trigonal bipyramid) by two additional anionic polyhedra, namely by a square‐pyramidal pentaoxoselenate and by octahedral SeO 6 6− ions (see picture).
