A platinum–silylene complex is implicated in the generation of the triangular platinum cluster 1 by thermolysis of a bis(silyl)‐Pt II complex. Although 1 contains only electron‐releasing ligands, X‐ray structural data, NMR studies, and MO calculations on a model complex are consistent with the presence of Pt 0 centers and metal–metal bonds.
