The ready addition of CO to [(Cp*ReH 2 ) 2 B 4 H 4 ] ( 1 ) results in the cleavage of a B−B bond and formation of the structurally characterized isomers cis ‐ and trans ‐ 2 . The B−B bond is reformed, with loss of H 2 , on mild thermolysis to generate complex 3 .
