The thermally stable μ 4 ‐peroxo complex 1 and its analogous bis( μ 2 ‐hydroxo) complex 2 have been structurally characterized. Complex 1 offers new insights into the binding of O 2 at multinuclear copper sites and 2 provides an indication of where the reduction of O 2 on a Cu 4 core might eventually lead.
