The first ordered structure model that could be refined in the 24‐fold supercell of the ErSe 2 type is the crystal structure of Gd 8 Se 15 . One remarkable structural feature of Gd 8 Se 15 is the isolated Se 8 8− rings found in an almost planar selenium layer (see picture; empty spaces: white squares, Se atoms: white circles).
