The cover picture shows two diastereomeric cycloheptatriene hemicarceplexes (bottom left and right). This highly strained, cyclic allene was generated photochemically through a phenylcarbene rearrangement in the inner phase of the chiral hemicarcerand, which shelters the guest from dimerization. Both diastereomeric hemicarceplexes thermally interconvert via the cycloheptatrienylidene hemicarceplex (top). A detailed investigation of the inner‐phase chemistry and the properties of this of this fascinating reactive intermediate is described by R. Warmuth and M. A. Marvel on p. 1209 ff. The image was generated by Kevin J. Langenwalter with the program POV‐ray.
