Eine anionische Cycloaromatisierungsreaktion liefert eine effiziente Methode für die Synthese von Dibenzofuranen 2 in 50–94 % Ausbeute. Dabei werden tert ‐Butyldimethylsilylether 1 mit Natriummethoxid oder Kaliumcarbonat in Methanol 16 h unter Rückfluss erhitzt.
