Das photosensitive Bolaamphiphil 1 (X= 3 H) wird für die Untersuchung des Zentrums der Transmembrandomäne von Glycophorin A (131 Aminosäurereste) verwendet; hierzu wird das Protein in Gegenwart von Cholesterin innerhalb einer Phospholipid‐Doppelschicht selektiv funktionalisiert.
