Gd 3 (SeO 3 ) 4 F: A Fluoride Selenite with μ 3 ‐SeO 3 2– and μ 3 ‐F – Capped Gd 3 Rings The decomposition of Gd 2 (SeO 4 ) 3 in the presence of LiF in sealed gold ampoules yields single crystals of Gd 3 (SeO 3 ) 4 F (hexagonal, P6 3 mc, Z = 2, a = 1044.3(1), b = 694.32(7) pm, R all  = 0.0286). In the crystal structure one SeO 3 2– group and one F – ion cap a ring of three Gd atoms. Furthermore, the crystal structure is strongly influenced by the lone pairs of the SeO 3 2– ions.
