Feedback to parents of the results of child psychological assessment is an unusually problematic aspect of the evaluation process. This paper integrates and expands on the heretofore sparse clinical literature. It explores dynamics stimulating resistance on the part of the clinician to engaging in feedback. Specific guidelines are provided for the conduct of feedback interviews in clinical and school settings that are designed to maximize the probability of successful intervention in the service of children and adolescents with primarily mild to moderate special needs.
