The purpose of this paper is to present a case for the need to individualize discipline as well as instruction. The selected review of the literature indicates that published information on classroom management currently does not provide such an individualized approach. A tentative child‐type by intervention technique interaction strategy is suggested with specific examples provided. This is not intended as a definitive statement but as a stimulant for further discussion and refinement.
