A model for predicting correlates of the attitude toward support, or network orientation, was tested on a group of 75 adolescent mothers. Past history of success in obtaining assistance, of contact with potential support providers, and of network stress was significantly related to network orientation. Network orientation was in turn related to the amount of support received by the younger (age 15–17) but not by the older (age 18–19) mothers and was unrelated to help‐seeking behavior.
