This paper presents the psychological factors involved in the rehabilitation process of the chronic mental patient, based on work experience in Cuba. The psychological techniques used and the procedure followed for initial assessment, job placement, and longitudinal assessment of the patient are also presented. The different groups of activities and levels of rehabilitation used at the Psychiatric Hospital of Habana and some statistics on mental patients' activities in Cuba are discussed.
