Transfer of effects to a community setting of a home‐based behaviorally oriented program implemented by parents was investigated by assessing prepost changes in treatment and control subjects by both parents and teachers. Sixty‐two children were assigned to a treatment ( n = 36) and a waiting control ( n = 26) condition. Both groups were measured on decrement of the presenting complaint and on two questionnaires. Following a 10‐week program, results showed that changes endorsed by the teachers, who were not appraised of the program, were very similar to those made by the parents. Some possible explanations for the transfer effect are discussed.
