The potential benefits to be derived by increasing the participation of community psychologists and students in alternative counseling centers are discussed. A definition of the term Alternative counseling center is presented and a philosophical similarity between community psychologists and the founders of alternative counseling centers is then outlined. The contributions that community psychology and alternative counseling centers can make to each other's growth are enumerated. One possible model for rapproachement is offered and a direction for future trends in this area is suggested.
