Therapeutic understanding and skills cannot be defined independently of cultural considerations. The utilization of three important processes (i.e., the acquisition of knowledge of cultures, experiences with diverse cultural groups, and ability to utilize innovative and culturally appropriate intervention strategies) in the training of clinical‐community psychologists is discussed.
