Calls to a telephone counseling service

Data collected on calls made to a telephone counseling service over a 22‐ month period were examined. It was found that (a) calls concerning alcohol problems, dating and social skills, information and referral, loneliness and depression, pranks and obscenities, and problem pregnancy differed significantly across four two‐hour intervals extending from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.; (b) males made significantly more prank and obscene calls than females, more calls concerning dating and social skills; and (c) males made significantly more calls between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m.
