Fabric‐reinforced thermoplastics are distinguished by their different consolidation status and the matrix used. The use of thermoplastic matrices is advantageous in comparison with thermosetting ones because of the shorter production periods, the possibility to conduct large‐batch production, unlimited storage, higher flexural strength, and better impact quality. The surface quality of consolidated fabric‐reinforced thermoplastics processed in the matched die forming process can especially be improved by the use of surface layers as fleeces and multi‐layer foils.
