EPDM sponge rubber profiles for automotive industry are becoming increasingly complex. As there is still little knowledge and process understanding, extensive investigations have been done at the Institute of Plastics Processing to describe the influence of the rheological material properties, the compound components and the process parameters during the extrusion, blowing and vulcanisation on the profile quality. Thus the manufacturer gains a better process comprehension. In connection with improved test methods, this leads to higher product quality and reduced production costs.
