Many products accumulate repairs and repair costs. Analysis of such recurrence data requires special statistical models and methods, which do not appear in basic reliability books. This expository paper presents models and methods for plotting and comparing two such data sets using confidence limits. The methods are applied here to repair data on automatic and manual transmissions of cars. Computer programs that perform the calculations and make the plots are discussed.
