In this paper an application of TELEMAC‐3D to simulate the hydrodynamics of the River Po delta flow is presented. The Po delta is a particular hydrological system in which the morphological configuration is in continuous evolution owing to natural and human activities. A large amount of field data collected during several years has been used to test the 3‐D mathematical model. In the present article the main characteristics of the delta, the data and hypotheses assumed in the calculations and the main results in terms of hydrodynamic and environmental variables are described.
